Project BackgroundThe safe and stable operation of power transformers relies heavily on the high dielectric strength of insulating oil. Recently, our custom-built Double-Stage Vacuum Transformer Oil Purifier successfully arrived at the client's major substation facility. The equipment has been successfully positioned, and our on-site engineers are currently executing the standardized procedures for pipe connection and pre-commissioning trial runs.
On-Site Operations: The Standard Protocol from Positioning to Startup
Phase 1: Precision Positioning and InspectionUpon arrival, our engineers conducted a comprehensive visual inspection of the weatherproof and dust-proof enclosure. Based on the spatial layout and safety radius of the transformer site, the purifier was leveled and secured on solid ground, with heavy-duty casters locked to ensure zero vibration during high-load operations.
Phase 2: Standardized Electrical & Hydraulic Connections
Electrical Phasing & Grounding: In high-voltage environments, electrical safety is paramount. Engineers connected the three-phase power supply, verified the correct phase sequence, and ensured the equipment's main body and control cabinet were strictly grounded to eliminate electrostatic or leakage risks.
Leak-Proof Hydraulic Connections: High-pressure, temperature-resistant steel-wire hoses were utilized to connect the transformer (or storage tank) to the purifier's inlet and outlet. The team strictly adhered to the closed-loop circulation principles, conducting rigorous seal tests on all flanged interfaces and quick couplings to prevent any secondary air ingress.
Phase 3: Dry-Run Testing & Safety Interlock VerificationBefore introducing the insulating oil, the core components underwent rigorous "dry" testing:
The Roots-Rotary vane double-stage vacuum pump system was activated. Engineers monitored the vacuum gauge to confirm the high-vacuum separation chamber reached its ultimate absolute vacuum (≤10 Pa) rapidly.
Photoelectric liquid level sensors and pressure controllers were manually triggered to verify the sensitivity of the PLC safety interlocks, such as "Heater Dry-Run Protection" and "Over-Pressure Auto Shutdown." This guarantees 100% safety during unattended operations.
Phase 4: Oil Introduction and Circulation TrialWith all safety parameters cleared, the inlet valve was slowly opened. Driven by vacuum negative pressure, the degraded insulating oil was smoothly drawn into the heating system, then into the 3D flash evaporation tower. Through the high-definition observation window, the rapid extraction of water vapor and dissolved gases during the degassing process was clearly visible.
Expected Project OutcomesFollowing this standardized commissioning and subsequent deep hot-oil circulation, the Breakdown Voltage (BDV) of the treated transformer oil will steadily rise to over 75kV, with moisture content dropping below 5ppm. This will completely meet and exceed international power grid standards, fortifying the dielectric defense of the client's transformer array.
