What are the purposes of purifying transformer oil?

Transformer oil has many functions, such as lubrication, cooling, insulation, etc. In the power industry, the quality of transformer oil must be guaranteed, otherwise more equipment problems will be revealed. Then we need to use transformer oil purifier for purification, which is environmentally friendly and can save oil.

1. Insulation: the dielectric strength of transformer oil is much higher than that of air. The insulating material immersed in oil not only improves the dielectric strength, but also plays a moisture-proof role.

2. Arc suppression function: On load voltage regulating switch of oil circuit breaker and transformer, electric arc will be generated during contact switching. Due to the good thermal conductivity of transformer oil, it can contact a large amount of gas at high arc temperature and generate greater pressure, thus improving the arc extinguishing performance of the medium and making the arc extinguish rapidly.

3. Heat dissipation: transformer oil has high specific heat and is often used as coolant. The heat generated by the transformer during operation makes the oil near the iron core and winding expand and rise due to heating.

4. Sealing function: transformer oil is widely used as sealing fluid in hydraulic safety valves, for sealing of oil immersed equipment and on-site vacuum oil injection and make-up of equipment vacuum pumping.
